Yesterday I was washing my "trusty Steed" and I was wondering
if i can make my 99 Merlin Extralight look like new again,
like have the Titanium re-buffed and have the
the decals reapplied???? any ideas.

I did it myself to my Vortex. If you currently work on your own bike it's not really very hard. Just take your time. To remove the old decals use finger nail polish remover and rags. If you have a dollar store around that is the best source of cheap finger nail polish remover. Then get some scotchbrite pads from your local hardware store and buff the from on the direction of the brushing, this would be generally in the direction of the radius of the tube. Last, call the American Bicycle Group, the current owner of both Merlin and Liteseed, and order a new set of decals, mine were $14.95 for the set and tell them you would would like a new headtube badge also. They comped me the headtube badge and a new seat post clamp. Carefully apply the decals according to the directions that come with the decal set. Excel Sports used to carry replacement Merlin decal sets so they are an option also.

LoL.

one other suggestion - kind of silly but I do it every year and it works - put on not only new but a different color, style handlebar tape. re-buffing is the best thing to do, and it works, but I also like the handlebar tape trick.
