Mavic Cosmos vs. Bontrager Race Lite(3 posts)

Mavic Cosmos vs. Bontrager Race Litesierranevada

I'm guessing someone here has put considerable mileage on both of the wheelsets. Which would you keep? I currently have both sets, and will be selling one set with my old bike.

I put the race lites on the bike just before snow hit, so I haven't really formed an opinion - but they seem to be well built. I just received the Cosmos, so they haven't been ridden at all.

Thanks~

The Mavic Cosmos are more along the line with the Bontrager Select wheels. The Bontrager Race lites are more along the lines of the Mavic Cosmic Elites. So you would be keeping the better wheelset by selling the Mavic wheels with the old bike. Now as for which is better, you need to look at your needs and the performance the wheels give. The Cosmos are high mileage training wheels which aren't concerned with weight or aero. If either of these has any value then sell the Mavics for sure, but if you want a dependable wheelset that is worry free then keep the Mavics.

I agree, the Cosmos are the most worry free wheels I've run. I've knocked them around quite a bit, stay true, no problems.
Interestingly, the Cosmos only weigh (by manufacturers weights) 55g a set more (1800g vs. 1745g) than the Bontragers and are actually lighter than the Cosmic Elites...definitely not aero, though, and very "old school" look.
