Ahead stem?(4 posts)

Ahead stem?Shaunus

I've just purchased a Columbus Muscle fork online. Waiting for it to arrive I've been looking into what headset and stem to purchase. I'm considering a Cinelli Solido stem and Record threadless headset. The solido seems reasonable light without appearing too flexy and I won't have to cut off my arm to pay for it. Any thoughts or other suggestions??

I'd go with the Ritchey WCS. It's not the lightest but it is light (125 gms) and not cheap (80-90 mailorder) but not in the league of the $250 mag stems. It's also reliable and quite stiff.

I have no personaly history with the Campy Threadless headsets, but the record headset has apparently had a lot of problems. I'd go with Chris King.

I've been using Campy Record threadless headsets since they were first introduced. They are easy to install and stay adjusted.

What kind of problem is it that this headset supposedly has?

I have had Record headsets on my last two bikes. My Colnago had a 1 inch and my custom has a 1and1/8. I have not had a problem with either and unlike some on this board I cant justify the King pricewise when my Campy headsets have gone for years with no problems.
