recommendations for a quality trainer..........skippy pinfish
Dec 10, 2002 7:09 AM
I'm need to get a trainer soon, my shift is changing from evenings to days and with a family I can't get away in the evens that often. Whats better a mag or fluid trainer. I saw the cyclops 2 fluid trainer for $230.00 @ price point, however that is as much as I can afford. Any suggestion will help.
I just bought a new trainerWHIZZard

Got the Performance Fluid non-adjustable version. Had a Minoura Mag before, it lasted about 3 years before "something" wore out - it started making a lot of noise... I like the feel of the fluid better, the harder you pedal the more it resists. Could be I'm comparing it to the worn out mag unit. It's a pretty good deal @ $150 or so. Only thing is - it's really heavy, if that matters to you, much heavier than the mag unit I had before. You can't go wrong with the Cyclops though, I have heard some people complaining about the earlier ones leaking, haven't heard anything about the newer ones.

I have the cycleops fluid 2 and like it. Have ridden it quite a bit over the last year without any problems.

I'm not dead set on the cyclops 2, I just checked the reviews and they seemed pretty good for the price, but I would prefer something under $200.
