|They aren't sold in the US via mail order because they aren't race legal. You MAY be able to get it thru a Rudy dealer, but even they might not be able to purchase.. if nothing else you can try E-Bay although I doubt you'll find it there either. E-Bay frequently has TT helmets which aren't sold in the US so the stratosphere seems just as likely. If you wait at the finish line of a tough rolling TDF stage Ludo Diercxsens is sure to be in a breakaway and might give you his if you endear yourself to him... other than that I think you're out of luck.|

|This is from a Lennard Zinn article in VeloNews:
The helmet you are talking about is an original Rudy Project cap called "Stratosphere" and is indeed one the helmets used by Team Lampre. Athletes love to wear it because it is so light and comfortable.
Some more information is available in our Web site (path: Products/Helmets/Stratosphere) as well as a complete Adobe PDF file (easy to download).
This helmet is not really a helmet but rather a "cap" and has no certification for the U.S. market. This does not allow us to sell it in America.

|I hope you don't order the yellow one. Lampre color is not too bad, I know there is at least another color, probably blue/black. I remember seeing the Italian dude wearing it in that downtown Manhattan crit(the one Lance raced).
I believe the visor is removable, Gilberto Simoni made himself looked like a geek wearing that thing without the viosr during one stage in 2000 Giro, with chin strap open! What was he thinking?
Could you write us a feedback if you ever get it? I am kind of interested..
|theyre cool looking..too late for labiceletta, bought in eng..||ishmael|

|going with all black....if you ride with the chin strap open you have to make sure you balance it just right when you fall so it stays on...I'll write when I get it..I imagine it's maybe better for minor falls but not as good for bad crashes...I plan to fall but not have a major crash so it's perfect.|| |
