| Can anyone explain what the heck "octalink" is? | REPO42 Dec 4, 2002 6:23 PM | | I been checking out the new Dura Ace crankset and see octalink stamped on it. I have the 7700 series crankset, what would be the difference between the two??? |

There may or may not be a stiffness advantage.. mainly its marketing. If you want to use a shimano crank, you have to use their BB.. If you want to use their BB, you haveto use their crank or a crankset bu a manufacturer that they have liscenced the octalink spline to. |
| Octalink is just Shimanos name for their splined BBs. nm | gogene Dec 4, 2002 7:17 PM | | |
