| ultegra cranks with campy? | CrazyMan Nov 30, 2002 12:15 AM | | Hey,
Is it possible to run an Ultegra crankset and BB with a campy 10 speed drivetrain? If so, which chain must be used?
Thanks |
| yes... | C-40 Nov 30, 2002 6:08 AM | | As long as you have a 9 speed little chainring, which is spaced closer to the big ring, you should not have a problem.
You should use a 10 speed chain for best shifting with the 10 speed cassette. The campy 10 chain with a wipperman "connex" connector link is my favorite.
If for some reason you insist on using a 9 speed chain, the Shimano DuraAce is the narrowest. |

closer than normal, or standard setup? must I tweak it in any way?
Thanks |
| spaced closer than 8 speed... | C-40 Nov 30, 2002 1:54 PM | | When shimano introduced 9 speed, they moved the little ring closer to the big ring by altering the mounting surface for the little chainring. The crank arms remained unchanged. If you have an old 8 speed crank you would need to buy a 9 speed little chainring to reduce the spacing.
If you have a 9 speed crankset, you're in business. |
