| Campy 10sp on Mavic Cosmos? | Velocipedio Nov 29, 2002 7:18 PM | | I understand that you can get a Campy-compatible Mavic 10sp cassette on a Mavic Cosmos freehub. Is this true? Anyone done it? |
| maybe... | C-40 Nov 30, 2002 6:18 AM | | If your wheels have the M10 cassette body whihc has Shimano splines, but is longer than a standard Shimano body, then the Mavic M10 cassette can be used.
Reports have been that the shifting is not as good as a Campy cassette.
A better option might be the accelerator 10 cassette, available form Excel Sports, which will fit on a standard Shimano cassette body. This cassette uses shimano cogs which should shift well with a campy 10 chain. |
| I have Wheels Manu cassette, works very well | koala Nov 30, 2002 6:40 AM | | despite the fact it is a little heavier and has been maligned, the shifting is as good as my chorus cassette. I do miss the 16 tooth cog, though, with my 12-25. Got it at Excel. |
| re: Campy 10sp on Mavic Cosmos? | unobtainium Nov 30, 2002 7:45 AM | | I have the wheels mfg cassette on my Cosmos. The downside is that they only offer cassettes that start with an 11 tooth cog. I later made my own 10spd 12-25 cassette using a DurAce 12-23 with a 25 Ti Cycle Dynamics cog but this required TIG welding the 12 tooth cog to the 13 cog! American Classic modifies a Shimano (105?) cassette into a 10 spd 12-25, but it looks heavy but is much cheaper than Wheels Mfg. |
