Has anybody mounted a light to a Deda 31.7 dia handlebar? I have looked at most of the more popular systems and none of the clamps open up far enough.

I have the Deda Magic OS bar and I am using Cygolite Nite Rover. There are 2 solutions to the problem - 1) Go to a hardware store and get a long bolt and nut that fits through the original mount. GENTLY bend the bolt in a vise. Now just mount the light with everything else original (the problem is not that it won't fit, the problem is that it won't close. That's why you need the long bolt). 2) Go to your LBS (it helps if you're buying the light there) and have them play around with some reflector brackets for oversize seatposts. My LBS suggested that and threw in the bracket set-up for free when I bought the light. I paid $10.00 more than mail order but it was well worth it. I ended up using the long bolt method (for a cleaner look) but they really went out of their way to help (and make the sale). I don't know if it matters, but this particular LBS specializes in tandems and recumbents. Maybe they're just used to problem matters.

I'm using a TurboCat on my Newton and Magic bars. Their clamping system wraps right aroung the bars with no fuss. It's a velcro set-up that will go around any size bar. check it out at www.turbocatusa.com . When you call, you actually talk to the people who own the place, not just a customer service rep. I've had my TC for 4 years and never had a hiccup!
