|i have a campy record 2000 2 ring setup (9 speed cog), would like to convert it to a 3 ring setup. my understanding is that i'll have to get a new crank and a new read der? my shifters are campy chorus 2001 and i think they work with a three ring setup correct? do i need a new front der as well?
anyone out there with a 3 ring setup that wants to swap to a 2 ring?

you can get a middle chainring (made by TA) that has a carrier for an inner chainring, sold separately. TA chainrings are good stuff. these conversion chainrings are not exactly cheap. you might very well be better off buying a triple crank (not familiar with prices of Chorus triples). you will certainly need a new front derailleur. the long-cage rear derailleur is not critical. if you avoid shifting into the big-big combo, you can get away with a short cage. if you stick with the short cage and shift into big-big, you will probably need a long cage (your derailleur will be destroyed).

|But, make sure you aren't going to the 10 speed specific rings. You may be mixing setups a bit. I don't know if Record 9 is available in a triple.
Check out branfordbikes.com for conversion kits, parts, and help.
PS: I'd convert to 10s and ride the 39/29 first.
