Campy Chorus Lockring(5 posts)

Campy Chorus Lockringibhim

Just purchased the hub and plan to build out the wheel this weekend. Rear hub came in retail box with seal UNBROKEN. While it takes the 27x1 lockring, I don't see it in the box (or premounted on hub). Do I have to buy one or was it actually missing due to mispackaging?.

Campy's web site is contradictory:

First, on the hub, states lockring size - but not that included.........
"CHORUS rear hub 9s/10s - light alloy body, axle and freewheel body - adjustable bearings - quick-release with aluminum lock nuts - lockring thread 27x1 - O.L.D.: 130mm"

Then in the Q&A section..........
"The lockring is not supplied with the Campagnolo sprockets. Why?

Since the lockring is supplied with the rear hubs and with the rear wheels, it is not supplied with Campagnolo sprockets. "

When Campy changed to the larger thread diameter lockring for the new oversize axle hubs, they started to include a 12/13 tooth lockring with the hubset and quit including them with the cassette. 11T first cog cassettes come with the smaller 11T lockring.

As I took a second look at the box, the front hub was in a retail box with an unbroken seal, however, what I cut through on the rear hub retail box was transparent tape as the seal had been broken.

Looks like somebody decided they needed the lockring more than I needed the lockring. Probably was scavenged in lieu of special order as no LBS in Orlando carry Campy spare parts. Come to think of it, I haven't even seen brake pads or chains....it is all Shimano at every shop. That's sad, competing on sameness rather than standing out.
It comes with the hub, hopefully you can score one. branford?nmSpunout
