Is everything from Phil Wood quality?(4 posts)

Is everything from Phil Wood quality?chopper

Reason is I just bought an old 80's bike for the frame to use as a fixie, and while the wheels are crap they both have Phil Wood hubs that look to be in decent shape. I've never owned his stuff but he has a good rep and was just wondering if he made some really low end stuff that might not be worth me listing them on Ebay?

Thanks.

...which feels just like STP (do they still make that?) at about 15 times the price. All the mechanical bits, though, as far as I've ever heard, are excellent.

I've used his hubs since 1974 and still have my first set in use. Also have use their bottom brackets and more recently, cassette hubs. The stuff is built to last. Not the lightest nor the latest but they stand behind what is a very well made product.
I spec'd Phil hubs when I had my custom wheelset built.gogene
