Replacement for Ultegra Shiftershomec

My ultegra 9 shifter for the rear derailleur stopped working. I noticed on the product review message boards that most complaints were for this problem. Is there anything more reliable that I can use instead?
The shifter just stopped shifting. Something inside broke. I have a 1999 shifter - the one with both computer buttons on the same shifter that doesn't shift anymore

I replaced a set of Ultegra shifters with Dura ace last year and was amazed at the difference. Shifts better, "feels" better made, etc. Well worth the difference in price.

I was skeptical myself. I was content with the Ultegra shifters, but when I went w/dura ace the difference was night and day. DA has friction upshifting and indexed downshifting with a single trim position. The shifting was so crisp compared to Ultegra that I thought something was wrong with them initially. Downshifting on the ultegra's would almost always bypass the two trim positions and go all the way left. (sometimes it didn't though - very frustrating) On the DA, one push of the lever downshifts to the trim and a farther/harder shift goes down to the far left position.. I love them.

Thanks. I ordered Dura Ace shifters. Now that the weather is bad, I don't feel so bad about dismantling my bike.

Do you know how water proof the shifters are? I have heard of headsets getting flooded and ruined during one ride in heavy rain. Do shifters have the same problem?
