|I recently purchased a 350mm carbon alien for use on my giant TCR. The packaging has a warning indicating that mtn bikers should not install the 350mm post w/o the use of a shim. I'm wondering if this applies since I'll be using it for road riding. Anyone have any experience using one for a road bike?|

|Of course, you'll have to make sure that your seattube measures 27.2 to use the 25.0 post and appropriate shim. Also, the opening in the shim should face opposite of the opening in your seattube clamp (which should still face opposite of the opening in your seattube). All of this will help protect the post to the forces exerted upon it due to its exposed length.
However, I could still use a 270mm post on my compact frame Agilis; it's an Easton.
