Folks,

I have a set of Bontrager Race Lite Bars ordered for my new bike on which I intend to mount a Cateye cordless computer. Because these bars are 31.8 mm diameter (bigger than most), I was wondering if it is possible to use the standard handlebar mount which the LBS ordered. Does anyone out there use these bars with this (or another) computer? If I place the mount
out a bit from the stem where the diameter drops to normal will I have enough room for my hands (46mm wide bars)?

Thanks for any thoughts.

I run the same setup with a racelite bar and a cateye computer, albeit wired. I used the original mounting bracket for the computer and placed it right next to the stem. Obviously, the screw did not fit. I took a narrow zip tie with the inside out and pulled it as tightly as possible through the two screw holes. So far, this has made for a sturdy and clean setup.

Cateye now ships some of thier cordless units with a mount for oversize bars. Mine is a Cateye Cordless 2 and it came with 2 mounting arrangements-one for regular bars, and one for oversize bars. It works great on my Deda Newton Bars (31.7mm size). If your LBS just ordered the cordless computer you should get the newer kit like mine. I bought mine back in August.

thus I assume there will be not enough room for your hands (actually there would not be enough room for mine on my 44 cm wide bars).

But I also fixed the clamp (VDO aero 8.0) with a zip tie in place of the screw and it works fine.
