my rear derailer (dura ace) wont shift down into the lowerst cog. If i do it manually between 1st and second, it feels as though something is sticking.

any suggestions?

A new shift cable and housing would be my first guess. It doesn't take much a kink in your shift cable to screw up your shifting.

Is the problem shifting "down" to the lowest speed cog which is the biggest, or is the problem shifting down to the smallest cog? These problems are usually related to cable tension, especially with newer bikes or bikes with newer cables. If the bike or cables are more than two years old the cables and housings may need to be lubed or replaced. Also check routing, especially under the bottom bracket.

Give your bike a good cleaning before sinking money into it. Degrease your chain, derailers and cassette. It's amazing how easily a sparkling clean drivetrain will shift. If this dosn't work check the adjustment of the rear derailer, it may be off or have a bent cage.

If all the other suggestions do not work make sure the der hanger is not bent or someone did not screw with the limit screws.
