which Dura Ace components are clearly 'better' than Ultegra?
I think for many people lighter IS betterfiltersweep

You ask a very loaded question, especially when you ask for "CLEARLY" better. Since the price is almost the same, I'd get DA shifters and deraileurs over Ultegra, but I can't say there is an earth shattering performance difference. Seriously, if weight and finish are not an issue, Ultegra is great.

When I was building up a winter beater, I cannibalized my Ultegras (to use on the winter frame), and replaced them with DuraAce ones which I found on the cheap (second hand). Similarly, my Ultegra crank and rear. derailleur were also cannibalized for this project, leaving me scouring the ads for a DA replacement. No difference in the crank as far as I can see (only cosmetics), but the DA shifter/rear derailleur combo sure feels nice, and slightly "crisper" (don't know if they perform any "better" though). Another bike project of mine is having my hunt for brakes, which could be the catalyst that drives to move my Ultegra brakes onto the to-be-built-up frame and replaced with DA, but that choice may end up being deferred until another economic cycle.

The only component that is 100% justified in cost/performance is the Dura-Ace STI levers. The D/A shifters are so much better than Ultegra. The newer Ultegra (6510) shifters are a major improvement over the original (6500), but they still pale in comparison to the D/A.

The rest of the the Ultegra parts are pretty good, and probably in terms of performance versus dollar they come out ahead of Dura-Ace. I have Dura-Ace on one bike, a mix of D/A and Ultegra on another, and 105 on the winter bike.
Taking away weight and finish, what do you have left?TJeanloz

When properly tuned, all Shimano equipment works pretty much flawlessly. People rave about Dura-Ace shifters, but really, 105 work just as well (except they don't "feel" as good, whatever that means), we're moving a little bit of cable here, not exactly a complicated task. Crank and BB? I suppose there's a stiffness argument, but the 105 crank is plenty stiff, and the BB is probably stiffer than Dura-Ace.

On the whole, if you don't count weight as a factor, I don't think there's any advantage to Dura-Ace over Ultegra or 105.

I never could get the trim to work on 105... does it even have trim? Also, I would find that I would get the occasional "delayed shift" that simply doesn't happen with DA.

The 105 triple is always a hassle, but the double works well, and has trim. If it's properly tuned, it's every bit as smooth as Dura-Ace.

I rode a 105 bike recently and could not believe how well it shifted. It seems that the performance difference has shrunk to a point where it really is just weight. What I rode was a double 12-23 cassette. I am used to my chorus 10 setup but have to admit the 105 seemed to shift just as fast, I just prefer the heavier feel of the campy shift. For the money 105 is awesome.
