"Gold" LX rear derailleur - Would you use it?zmarke

It is not so bad...is it?

I was planning on using it with an 12-32 to get more gearing on a road bike with a double crank.
Low to mid-range Shimano stuff usually works well...cory

I have an LX front and Deore XT rear derailleur on my roadie, and both ends shift great, but that's not really a good comparison because a front D doesn't have to do much. As a rule, though, Shimano stuff in the "popular" price ranges works well. Whenever I hear somebody complaining about 105 or LX, I sort of suspect they're showing off.
Oh yeah, what about the new Black 105?pusher

Just got my new Performance catalog, and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a picture of a completely black 105 group (on page 42). I don't like it. I liked the "old" 105. I thought it was prettier than Ultegra and even Dura Ace.
I had't seen or heard anything about this new visual downgrade.

I know, I think the black 105 is nasty. I was looking at a Cannondale spec'd with black 105. Such a shame. Would have bought the bike if it was a pure gruppo for the price, but Cannondale wouldn't even do that...
