Ksyrium SSC SL Who What When Where How?Natchez

I bought an new set of K's have put like 500 miles on them they are nice wheels. I am going to be building up a new bike some time in the coming months and am considering building it with Campy. I have well worn Ultegra now. It seems like I read a post about being able to switch Shimano Ksyriums over to Campy. It seems as though I remeber some one saying the part was like 40 bucks is this so? Can one change a Shimano Ksyrium into a Campy wheel? I know that the wheel might have psychological problems but can it be done physically? If so Who can do it? Would I be able to do it? What parts tools would be needed. How long would it take to do it? (when) Where would I get the part? How would I do it? Keep in mind my LBS not that great and sells no Campy bikes.

Thanks

I converted my K's from Shimano to Campy. It's pretty easy. You need to buy a Campy freehub (ED10 is the model number on my invoice), I paid $48 for mine, from my LBS Britton's in San Antonio, TX. To remove the freehub you pull the axle end (the side opposite the freehub) off and insert a 10mm allen wrench. Then put a 5 or 6mm allen in the freehub side and unscrew it. When you have the freehub side axle unscrewed , the freehub will come loose and can be pulled off. Don't twist it or the pawls will come out. If they come out (they are spring loaded) it's not the end of the world, you'll see how they fit into the hub body. There is also a washer on the inside of the freehub, between the two bearings (the hub body one and the freehub one) that you'll need to reuse. I cleaned everything, used a little Phil Tenacious (sp) oil on the pawls, put the axle end in the freehub, slid the washer on depressed the pawls and tightened it up. Works like a charm, takes about 10 minutes if you're really slow and meticulous. Post back or email me if you have any questions. Good luck.

Easier....excell sells a Campy 10sp compatible cassette for around $80.00. This will fit on your Shimano freehub w/o swithcing out bodies....did it...works great!
if you were talking about the Am Classic cassette, weiwentg
