Question for Amtnbikr about AC350'sjzinckgra

I got my AC 350's today and and read from one of your old posts that the AC rear hub does not use the typical dura ace index spline pattern. When I put my DA cassette on, the spline pattern isn't the same as the AC free hub body. As a result, there is a fair amount of play between the two. MY AC hub has the same width splines all the way around, while the DA cassette has 8 wide splines and one skinny. How did you remedy this or did you just use it as is? My 1st impression was that Garcia put a campy freehub on, but I have found out that that wasn't the prob. Thanks.

this is normal. What you need to do is to install the cogs so they are indexed correctly, which can be done by identifying the odd tooth and keeping them all stacked on top of one another in the same spline groove. Or, take them off of a Shimano freehub and without moving them, install them on the AC freehub body so as to keep them indexed. As for the looseness, just take the lockring, and snug it, but not fully torqued down. Now, turn the cogs clockwise to "preload" them against the side of the splines, and then torque the lockring. No big deal!

Thanks again for the info. That's exactly what I did last night. I'll have a chance to test ride them this weekend.

but for some reason I could not login on here.....Have you ridden them at all yet? I have had a few rides on mine and am VERY pleased with them. If I sell the Spinergy Xaero wheelset I had, I may get a set of the 420's sometime too.....

No, haven't ridden them yet. This weekend for sure though. They look pretty good, although I wish the rims were completely silver. Is your rear hub kinda stiff? When I spin the hub body, it feels kinda stiff. Guess it needs some breaking in. my final wheel weight was 1323g. feel free to email me if you want....jzinckgra@yahoo.com
