I'm seriously thinking of swapping my shifters and rear D out for Campy Chorus. I'll be using an Am Classic conversion cassette, since I'm not going to change my wheels. 3 questions.
1) no problems using a 10s chain with 9s Shimano cranks, right? I would assume not from the answers below.
2) Shimano front D or Campy? I am assuming the Shimano D will be a better idea. cheaper and works seamlessly with the cranks.
3) lifespan of the Am Classic cassettes?

It makes more sense to use the campy F/D, since it's made to work with the chain and shifters.

There should be little difference in the spacing of the chainrings, so the shimano crank won't be a problem.

Who knows about the cassette life. Any of them will last a long time with proper care.

Campy front Ergo shifters (unlike STI) really don't care about what kind of FD they're connected to, not will the cranks care about the FD, so (being cheap) I'd stick with the Shimano FD.
