I've done this a couple of times with my 240 rear hub. It's
worked well, get's rid of that loud ratchet whine for a time
until it gradually comes back. I use a bench vise to hold
the axle and pull up on the wheel. You can get instructions
on the DT Swiss web site.

I believe Hugi won't warranty unless you use their grease. I seem to recall this is something they are pretty specific about in their maintenance literature. Other than that I don't see the harm as long as the Pedro's SYN is similar to Hugi grease.

The DT Swiss website has excellent maintenance/service instructions for the Hugi hubs on line.

Hugi's are noisy because of the ratchet system they use. If it gets quieter after you have "greased" it, it's because you got grease on the ratchet—this is very, very bad. Put Syn grease (it is fine) in the bearings but not on the freewheeling mechanism (this only gets oil) and live with the noise.

No! Hugi USA will send you their special grease for the star ratchets -- free of charge.
