Campy ErgoPower Levers(2 posts)

I have an ErgoPower Lever (left) that has recently developed a rattle. The rattle seems to go away when you apply slight pressure to the brake lever of the unit. Only enough to engage the calipers, but not enough for the pads to make contact with the rim. The entire groupo is year model 2000 and has about 8-9K miles. I'm going to install a new set of cables/housings and I would like to alleviate the rattle at the same time.

Any thoughts?

is the little rubber bumper on the back of the brake lever (or the lack of it, actually). The bumper prevents the "up shift lever" from hitting the brake lever. If you've lost the bumper, then you'll get a rattle. Try pulling back on the shift lever instead of the brake lever and see if that fixes it. If so, a dab of bathtub caulk on the spot where the bumper was will fix you fine (look at the other lever for reference).
