I have been riding Speedplay pedals for a while now and I cannot get comfortable. My right foot goes numb about 5 miles into my ride. I have made adjustment after adjustment and nothing seems to help. So I am considering switching to Look PP337's because a certain company has them on sale for 69.99. Any comments or suggestions?

Which model are riding, $69.99, I might be interested in them. It may possible be the shoes you are riding in causing the problem, have you tried more than one pair of shoes?

It's probably not the pedals. It's probably not really even the shoes. I had the same problem. Turned out I over pronate - that is my foot has a natural twist and locking everything down securely in a nice stiff bike shoe/pedal system causes the bones in my foot to start cutting off the blood supply to various areas resulting in numbness and foot cramping. Working with a podiatrist and getting a set of custom orthotics has made all the difference in the world. Now riding 100 or 200 miles is not an issue as far as my feet are concerned - the rest of my body does have issues however. I will add the caveat that I can ride the MTB without the orthotics since I'm in and out of the pedals and everything is a lot more dynamic in terms of changing foot positions.

Sounds like your shoe to me! I have used x2 pedals for almost 3 years, the only problem i have had has been with the shoes being to tight.
