|I ride a Specialized Allez. It has Aerolite wheels by SpeedDream wheels, which have ran smoothly and problem-free for almost 2 years. In my last ride, I noticed a loud rattle in the front end of my bike, especially on slightly rougher roads. It started off light and infrequent, but was loud and almost constant by the end of the ride. After the ride, I bounced the front and back end of the bike a few times, and only the front rattles. Inspection of each component showed that they all seemed preety solid individually. Has anyone else had this? Any suggestions as to what it might be? I would prefer to do home maintenace if possible. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.|

|Yeah, it might be the threaded ring on your Presta valve. Screw it down snuggly (not tightly) to the rim.|

|Sounds to me like your headset may have worked itself loose. Check that the lockring (on a threaded system) or top cap (on a threadless system) is tight.
Hope this helps.

|Thank you both for your suggestions. It seems that I was not adjusting the headset properly. I forgot to loosen the stem before tightening the headset cap. The rattle has decreased significantly with that change. Thanks again.|

|It might be the shifters/brake levers. My Ultegras rattle like crazy. I'm about to replace them.|| |
