what would be the best all around road tire size 700x23

If I weighed 50 kg, I think I'd be happy on 700x20. If I weighed 100 kg, I'd be looking at 700x25 or bigger. For most of us in the middle, 23 is good, recognizing that not all 23s are the same size. Why this is, we'll never know, but the range in actual width of nominal 23 mm tires is quite astounding, given that it's so easy to get it right. Clothes are the same way, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised.
