Hi,

I am just starting to get into this stuff and bought a bike a couple of months ago. I am looking into buying some kind of heart rate monitor/clock/training computer. If anybody has any good suggestions of what kind, brand, what functions should I be looking for, please let me know.

Thanks.

If this if this is your first cyclocomputer you might want to start with a model that just does the basic stuff, such as the Cate Eye Mitty 3 or Enduro, or even a Nashbar wireless. Then after a couple of months you will have an idea what functions you want and go from there. About the only thing my computer is good for is keeping track of my miles and bike maintenance. You might not need all those bells and whistles for a computer...

I've got both the Cateye Mity 3 and the HB100 (basically the Mity 3 with an HRM). Both work on the same mount so I can switch them in about 5 seconds. Both work well. The only problem I've had with the HB100 is that pressing both of the buttons on the top surface resets the unit. They should have made it take a second or two of pressing both to reset it. Otherwise works well. I bought mine at the LBS for about $110.
