ahead stem as strong as Syncros quill?(3 posts)

ahead stem as strong as Syncros quill?tao

I'm upgrading to a new bike with a threadless 1 1/8" steerer and I'm wondering if anyone has any input on what ahead stem will provide the same tough as nails strength that I'm getting from my syncros quill. I can't seem to find anyone who carries syncros anymore and I don't think their ahead stem will fit 1 1/8". Weight of the stem is not an issue, I really don't care if it weighs 100 or 400 grams. But I do want a stiff stem that won't have any flex, or very minimal, when a 190lb rider yanks on the bars. The reviews on this site aren't very encouraging, any ideas?

... I've still got Syncros on a couple of bikes... and have had good results from 3T Forgies on both alloy and CF steerers (currently using 'em on 4 other bikes... from road to TT specialty)... that'd be my advise to you (an indirect endorsement comes from the number of Forgies you can see in the Pro Pelotons (both in the US and abroad)).

...mmmmmmm I luvz me my Forgies...

We abide.
