If I want to sell my steel frame is it possible to remove the chris king headset without damaging the frame? It seems like so many used frames include the headset and I was wondering if this is the case because they are difficult to remove. I would like to reuse the chris king on my next bike if that is a practical thing to do.

Park actually makes a "right" tool to do it. I'd guess most shops would have one and knock out the cups for you for $5.00 or so. Takes less than a minute once the fork is out.

Removing the crown race from the fork can be another story. Some forks have little "access notches" on the front and back to allow you to use a punch to knock the race loose. Some don't. The don'ts can be an adventure.

You can get a crown race remover from http://www.biketoolsetc.com
I used the Shimano one and it worked okay (was able
to re-use the crown race).
