|Campy FD indexing question...||Velocipedio|

|I just built my first bike. I have Campy Centaur, but I have a question about FD adjustment. The way I have the limiters/cable tension set, I seem to have about three emply clicks at the bottom end. That is, once I shift into the small ring, I can click down a few more times without moving the FD. It's not the end of the world, but what have I done wrong, and what can I do to fix it?|

|Put it on the small ring pull the cable snug at the derailuer and live with it. You can use any extra clicks to trim in the infrequent occasions that it seems easier to stay on the small ring but go all the way over to the small cog for a short period of time.|

|What you have is a shifter that has about 8 shift points. That's a good thing because it gives you more capability to "trim" your derailleur if you get chain rub.
Right now, whenever you shift into one of the "empty clicks," your shift cable is going slack under your down tube. That's not a good thing. Here's how to fix it.
Put your bike on a workstand and shift into the biggest cog on the back. Now completely disconnect the front derailleur cable. Turn the crank. You should have about 1mm or 2mm of space between the chain and the inner derailleur cage. Adjust the low gear limit screw if necessary. Downshift your front shifter until you run out of clicks. Pull your shift cable so that it's just snug and tighten the anchor bolt.
