Anyone know which manufacturers tend to run bigger in the toe box? I'm having a hard time finding any size 47 shoes which are wide enough at the toe area. It's just hard enough finding a 47!

I think SIDI's seem narrow. Anyone know about Northwave, Diadora, etc.?

I haven't tried them myself, but I think Carnac's "claim to fame" is a wide toebox. Also, Sidi has introduced "mega" versions of the Genius which are wider.

my new pearl izumi vapers have a nice wide toebox and a normal sized heel, and you cant beat the new flame graphics!! (if only i was fast enough to warrant them) they make them up to size 48.

I just bought a pair (the blue ones, not the new red and yellow flames). Once you get past the sorta odd looks, they are very light, stiff soled (carbon), and breathe well.

They also make other models at $109 and $75... all three strap.

Run big in the toe box. I just retired a pair, good shoes if they fit, but you gotta try them on...

Carnac Legends have a wider toe box than the rest of their line. I've ridden Legends (Lemonds) or the last 9 seasons and they work well for wide feet. I have a few pairs but continue to use the first pair I bought and they do last a long time. I've tried on a number of other Carnac models and they do not have a wide toe box.

Sidi Genius Mega's. The only 'wide' model in the Sidi line. I've not tried them.

Northwave Evolutions- I also own a pair of these with the carbon sole and like them quite a bit. Surprisingly, even wider than the Legends. Very comfortable and a bit lighter than the Legends. The other Northwave models are not as wide.

Diadora's- I haven't tried their more recent models but I don't imagine that they've changed their foot lasts and my last pair were not what I would consider to be wide.

Like they say, you've got to try them on.

Carnac Legend shoes probably have the best combination of wide toebox and narrow heel. The other Carnac models are not nearly as wide up front. The Sidi Mega shoes are wide in the forefoot, but not as narrow in the heel. The Carnacs are definitely heavier than the Sidis, and the sole-spindle distance is higher for any pedal system with Carnac versus Sidi.

Apparently the new Pearl Izumi shoes are quite wide. A recent Velonews also tested the Shimano R-214 and found them to be fairly wide in the forefoot as well. And the Northwave Evolutions are reported to be on the wide side.
