24 spoke rim -- suggestion and source(4 posts)

24 spoke rim -- suggestion and sourcePT
Jul 22, 2002 7:12 PM
Perusing various catalogs and websites, I haven't come across a 24 spoke rim. My Ritchey Aero Pro front wheel bit the dust in a crash last week and I'd like to rebuild on the hub. So...some suggestions for a quality/everyday rim along the lines of the Ritchey rim?

Thanks!

Try American Classic... I think they have an areo rim... but I am not to sure if they sell only the rim or you have to shell out for a whole knew wheel. Also, Velocity has areo rims but I don't know where to get them. Sorry so vague... but I hope it helps. HOP

Here's a few to get you thinking...

You could always get another one of what you had?

Velocity's "AeroHead" model is available in that drilling and is light and reliable. Lots of color options, but the plain silver one lacks the cnc machined sidewall available on the color finished rims.

If you want to get a little crazy-light, the CR350 from American Classic runs about 365g. Might not be everyones idea of an "everyday" rim, but it holds up pretty well considering how light it is.

Sun's "Venus" model is available in 24 hole too, and is the high-tech choice with a welded seam, eyelets, and a cnc'd braking surface. All the bells and whistles.

I'm sure other folks can come up with some more!

Bill Larson has the American Classic rim for $48, and yes you can buy just the rim. Do a search on this site to find Bill. He always has something for sale here.
