Threadless Headset(2 posts)

I have a nasty creak and I think it is coming from the headset area when I peddle and when I don't. I tried the "easy-fix" WD40 in all areas but it still won't go away. The headset is a Cane Creek on a Trek 5500. I have always wanted a King Headset and this is the time to buy I guess. But can anyone shed any light from past experience with a similar problem?

WD-40 in the headset is not a good idea. Headsets have grease in them and WD-40 is a solvent and will remove even more grease from a headset that was possibly in need of a regreasing and adjustment. Unfortunately there are to short cuts to proper bicycle repair and maintenance. Order your King put it on and it will outlast your frame. After all King is the Enerizer bunny of the headset world.
