Shimano Dura Ace/ Ultegra pedals?(6 posts)

Shimano Dura Ace/ Ultegra pedals?Carbon fiber fanatik

I'm throwing these crappy LOOK pedals in the trash. Which means, I'm looking for something better that won't scare away the local wild life when pedaling past.
Any opinions on Dura Ace/ Ultegra pedals?

Thanks in advance

Rumor has it that Shimano is soon to release a new design to replace the SPD-R design. The new design is now being tested.
I like Speedplay X-1 or X-2.

You'll hear a lot of people say bad things about these pedals, but I really like them. IMO, Look pedals suck. The cleats are friggin' plastic! I too had problems with Look sueaking. I have both the Ultegra and Dura Ace versions of these pedals. The float is non centering and they are fairly easy to setup. Entry/exit is pretty much the same as Look, hook the front, etc. I have seen the new prototype pedals, but who knows when they'll be available. Go with the SPD-R's.

I have dura ace pedals on all my bikes and I like em. the durace pedals are pretty light too. Ive had looks and wasnt too thrilled with them. dont lay down the bucks for the durace if your not sure. the ultegras arent too much heavier and more than half the price...I have the ultegras on one of my bikes as well and I cant tell the difference between the DA or the Ultegra.
go with the ultegra...their good stuff

Ultegra work quite well... large enough platform that they are comfortable. The cleat set up is a bit odd (two screws for a sizable cleat). The downside to steel cleats is they definitely will chew up your pedals! I guess we can't have everything.

I use the PD-5500s (105 version) which are very similar to the PD-6600 Ultegras. So far they have been working very well. I just put a few drops of oil into the pedal so getting in and out will be easier. Without the oil, it is very difficult to get out!
