|Vittoria Corsa CX/Rolf Sestrierre compatibility/Bead blowout||ridewt|

|When I recently attempted to mount some new Vittoria Corsa CX clinchers onto my Rolf Sestrierre's, they seemed to go on pretty easily. I pumped them up to about 70 lbs pressure with my handpump and inspected both tires to see if they were properly seated. Then, I pumped them up to about 110 with the foot pump. On both front and rear, the bead blew off the rim and tubes exploded. Then, needing more tubes, I let the LBS mount them and told them to pump them up to 110 to test. One tire blew and he did it over. So, now I'm not sure that I trust these tires. I finally ended up with 2 tires mounted but I'm skeptical. One local guru suggested that the CX tires might be slightly large (or maybe Rolf wheel is slightly small) so that the bead does not seat well.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

|I have the same tires but on Mavic Open Pro rims. 1000 miles and no probs at any pressure. I would then suspect that your rims might be on the small end of the acceptable dimensions while the tires are on the large side.|

|Thanks for your replies. I have since talked to my Vittoria rep and he thinks that maybe I just got a bad set of tires and will swap them out.|| |
