|Someone help me out. Someone was interested in purchasing a set of RSX 7speed STI shifters that have been sitting in a box of spare parts from me a while back. Anyway, he decided to back out of the deal because I didnt have the ORIGINAL cable housing for the shifters. He said that he wanted the originals because they are STIFFER and specifically designed for STI shifting. Now help me out here... wouldnt any STI cable housing work? I told him I have about 10 feet of shimano shift cable housing laying around that I could send him, but he was still not interested.
So, who is the moron here, him for thinking that there is some kind of difference, or me for not knowing the difference???
You can answer both...

|I will say upfront that I am not an expert on shift cable housings but I personally know of only two for Shimano: grey-Dura-Ace labeled housing, and black standard housing that comes with everything other than Dura-Ace. I wouldn't sweat the fact that he is sure that the factory cable is stiffer. Improving the shifting on RSX can likely only be accomplished by replacement.|

|He might have been using that as an excuse. RSX shifters will work fine with new shifter housing. If anything it will be better as it will not have years of gunk in it llike the original housing does.|| |
