|I have a Colnago C40 with the Colnago carbon seat post. I have noticed that the pros don't use the carbon post. They run Shimano posts. I can't find any seatpost in the 28.0 size other than the Colnago carbon. I am only asking in case I need to replace. The carbon post works great. Any ideas where to find alternatives?|

|Not sure it's an issue (have you heard of one breaking?). Plus, the pros may have sponsorship issues. If you needed to, you likely could use a smaller post with a shim.

They make an MTB seatpost that is 28.0 size. Aluminum.

I posted a similar question last year and searched everywhere for a solution. Most people told me to cut an aluminum can and make my own shim. This didn't feel right to do to a C-40. While in Europe I searched and then I contacted all the US Colnago dealers. Finally Britton bikes had a shim. It weighs less than my wedding ring, but it has a machined look and a lip to keep it in place. I can't tell any difference in the ride quality from the carbon seat post. Sorry for the dust in the picture, but 5 knee surgeries have side lined me for now.

|USE who make the Alien posts also makes a serious number of specific shims for use with either 25.0 or 27.2 posts and shown on their website. I'm sure you can order one from your LBS.|
