New Time Pedals(8 posts)

New Time PedalsBanky

Does anyone know about these new Time road Pedals that have just came out? They have a different cleat and I am tring to find out if the new cleat will work with the old pedal version? I am considering purchasing the prior model but I am concerned that the cleat may become hard to come by unless the new pedal cleat works for the old model. Cannot seem to find a Time site on the net. May have to buy the new model but I sure would like to know a little more about them?

I was just at my LBS and saw a pair of the Impact Ti's. The shop manager just got them for his bike. Sure are sweet looking and pretty light..Speedplay territory. Anyway, I am not too familiar with the old cleat setup, but the new cleat is red plastic with a plastic insert for the front and metal for the rear. I think the old cleats had medal front and rear so I don't know if there will be an issue of wear or not.

Check out http://www.timesportusa.com/contact.html and they should be able to answer your question about the cleats.

Did you have the old version, if so how do new compare to the old? if not what do you think about them so far, I am a 210 lb rider, should I go for the steel spindle or will the Ti hold up?

I've had the old version before using the Impacts. The impacts are alot easier to get into, and they feel solid just like the previous version. I'd recommend the steel spindle if you are 210lbs. I believe the older version had a 180 lbs limit on their ti version.

The new cleat has a brass rear and plastic up front. It's nice having the look 3-hole setup. It's a nice pedal system.

I have a Carnac Elipse shoe, will I need a new adaptor as well. I may go for the new version, with the steel spindle they only weigh 300 grams.

I just got mine from TotalCycling.com The new impact pedals are great. Easier to get into and out of compared to the previous road models. I have ridden Time pedals since 1988! The new impact pedals have a wafer thin adapter which is an huge improvement over the older and heavier adapter required for non-Time shoes.
