Clunky Dura ace levers?(4 posts)

Clunky Dura ace levers?Ping_Pong

I just installed dura ace last night, first impressions are a bit mixed - shifting is smooth but to shift up on the right lever takes quite a lot of force compared to my old 105 levers. It feels fairly clunky !

Do they bed in ? I won't be able to compare with any one elses until Saturday and am fairly concerned about it!
DA should feel like silk compared to 105.Quack

All I can say is that your situation sounds a little weird. Bearings on the pivots of DA should make shifting smooth and crisp. I'm assuming that you used all new housing and cable during the install and didn't route cables at extreme angles that would cause binding. If you changed the rear derailleur also, it may just be that the spring tension on the DA is greater than that of the 105. As far as bedding in, the levers may loosen up a bit with use but I would doubt that it will make a noticeable difference in ease of shifting.

Good luck!

Couple of months ago I swich from 105 to DA as you did. I could only said that I didn't felt any realy noticable difference in entire shifting process (it became little smoother, though).
I have DA and 105weiwentg

and the DA's lever action is silky smooth both ways, while 105 is a bit mushy (but shifts smoothly). as someone else said, check the cable housing.
