anyone know if Mavic (or someone else) sells a Campy free hub to replace the Shimano one I currently have on my special K's? Trying to avoid going the wheels manufacturing route..
only for newer models...C-40

If you have early model hubs, you're out of luck. Mavic changed their hub design in late 2000, introducing the ED-10 cassette body. The shimano and campy cassette bodies are interchangeable on these newer hubs.

Otherwise, you would have to buy the entire freehub and rebuild the wheel to avoid using a wheels manufacturing cassette.
do you know how to tell if the cassette body if the new version?Jekyll

I think mine are late 2000 (I got them in November of 2000, I think).

I'd try contacting Mavic directly. The difference may be entirely internal. Little chance that it's the new one though. The old Shimano-only freehub design was sold for many months after the change (usually at bargain prices).
