|Well I've been waiting ten weeks now for my new frame (funny that's how long they said it would take) and I now have UPS tracking number. Next week I should be doing the assembly.
BB and headset will come installed, but the balance I will be doing myself. I've built up a few frames with Ultegra, DA and XT, but never touched the Campy stuff before. Before I get too far into this, are there any helpful hints specific to Campy (or otherwise for that matter) that anyone has to offer.

|You made a good choice in components. It's pretty straight forward. The only advice I have is to, take the Perma Link/Hyperlink or whatever the latest iteration is, and throw it away. Use a Wipperman Connex link. I tried the Wipperman chain and liked it. When I replaced it I used a Campy chain and Connex link 500 mi and so far so good.|

|Route both shift cables along the front of the handlebars (it's optional). This routing is more comfortable, but requires tight taping of the shift cable to the bars (I use fiberglass reinforced straping tape). I also cut small pieces of thin foam rubber to place beside the shift cable to smooth the transition between the cable and the bars, where it crosses over the top of the bars.
Position the flat part of the brake hood, where the palm rests, horizontal or angled up a few degrees, not angled down. This is crucial to comfort.
I second the use of the $5 Wipperman connector link. It's a lot better than campy's link.
You only get one chance to set the chain length. Remove too many links and the chain is scrap. Post again if you want specifics on chain length adjustment.

|Just built a campy 10 speed bike from scratch - two suggestions: One, print out all the neccessary PDF files off the Campy web site - have them available when you aare working on the bike.
Two, if possible, have a torqe wrench available when you build up the bike (not completely necessay, but very nice for the BB cups, bars and other essentail areas you want very tight but not too tight.)
Also totally agree with other poster: Get the connex Wipperman chain - the nickel one is only $25 online and wroks great- if you use the Campy chain - use the Connex link NOT the campy - the campy link blows..
Three park tool site is good too.

|at least one instance, for my wheel hubs, where they tell you to turn a bolt clockwise to remove a part that you need to turn counterclockwise). But, for the most part, they are informative, accurate, and easy enough to follow. So, my advice is to read the instructions, read them again, start working, read them again, (repeat as often as necessary) finish installing whatever part, and then read them once more to make sure that you did it right.
I did it, and, while I don't think that I'm a total idiot, good people can disagree.

|I built up my first bike with Centaur this spring. Not all that difficult if you follow Campy's directions and take your time. Hardest part for me was the cabling. Deciding the right length for the cable housing takes some thought and time. It helps to have an example bike or photo to work from. Get the levers where you want them first and tape up the housing to the bar before cutting to make sure the length will work. Err on the long side - you can always recut. A torque wrench is a good idea.|

|you don't need their silly special chain tool. A small "C" clamp will do just fine. Their tool cost about $65 a small "C" clamp cost about 2 bucks at your local hardware store, that is unless you already have one in you tool box.|

|My understanding is that a standard chain tool works fine with the Record C10 HD-L Chain http://www.campagnolo.com/components.php?gid=1&cid=6 and that it's the UD Chain that requires the special tool.
Anyone out there that has experience with the HD-L Chain? Still recommend using the Wipperman link with this chain?

|If you read the instructions (in pdf format on the website) for installing the HD-L chain, it certainly appears that it takes another special campy tool to install the connector link properly. What is not clear is whether all of the pins on the HD-L chain are two-piece, and if the pins are the standard diameter (about .140 inch). If the pins are the standard diameter, a wipperman link could be used to connect the chain and a standard chain tool should be adequate for removing links.
The pins on the UD chain are one-piece and standard diameter. A special tool is needed to install the permalink, if you use it. If you don't use the permalink, an ordinary chain tool can be used to remove links to the the proper length. A wipperman connex link works great to connect it.

|how it all works out. I ordered the bike through Maestro and Mike informed me that a standard chain tool works fine on the HD-L chain, but of course Campy recommends using their "special" tool.

|The instructions wern't at all clear which bearing goes in the upper race and which goes in the lower race. (they are slightly different sizes) We finally got it figured out somehow.|| |
