I still prefer the silver cranks, levers, etc.

Black makes it look like plastic.

in fact, I think it looks quite slick - my opinion. would you rather they have done it in gold? :p
will the black stay on?eflayer2

Seems like silver anodized would be more durable. I can just see after a few years all the light scratches through the black.
it is an optionI Love Shimano

you can still buy the silver anodized version.
I like, reminds me of my old LX parts NMLowend

I preferred the silver ano. The only upside is now I can build my all black wheels with the 105 Hub, Mavic OP, DT Blacks. Handbuilt for $200 really slick looking.

Now cannondale can say their groupo is the same thing as the new shimano 105. I got my caad 4 in 2001 and the lbs said the expert cranks are mark offs or same as the 105 cranks. Now you can't argue that point.

It's the "Carbon Look"DCP

Ala Record brake levers and carbon cranks.
makes it natural to chose campy..colker

sad. ugly. decadent.... horrible. no matter how well this black 105 works, a silver veloce will allways be better unless campy commits suicide and goes black too.
Aren't those carbon cranksJS

that all the Campy lovers are lusting over black? And speaking of commiting suicide it appears they may have the gun in their hand, see, rumors.
yeah, they are black...collinsc

theyre also carbon. so there is a reason theyre black.
would campy turn their silver record cranks to black?colker

I kind of like the idea of using black, but I would have intermixed it a bit. The black on the cranks will wear through and look nasty after a while, but the hubs, brakes, and derailleurs could look snazzy on a complete bike. Complete black is too much though; better to use a combination of black and silver on all the parts IMO. The way carbon splashes bits of black on Record just looks badass. Of course, I'm a crossover from mountainbiking, so what do I know about roadie fashion.

Would look real cool on Ti, like the new Sienna with carbon seatstays, or one of the black cannondales.
I like it. Isn't Campagnolo coming out with black-out components? see 'rumors' May 16:
