Shimano Exage 400EX and STI Shifters/Brake levers???igorn

Hi,

I have simple technical question. Is Shimano Exage 400EX rear derailleur (it is made in 94') compatible with STI shifters/brake levers (105, tiagra, sora...)?

Also, I would like to know if there are STI compatible shifters/brake levers from another manufacturers (I saw Modolo Morphos).

Regards,

Igor.

You didn't mention how many speeds or what you're trying to accomplish, but you sure don't want to spend money on pricey new STI shifters, just to make use of a $15, 8 year old derailleur.

The general answer is that any 7 speed Shimano shifters will work any of their 7 speed derailleurs.

The new 9 speed shifters will even work with an old 8 speed cassette, if you use a new 9 speed rear derailleur and attach the derailleur cable properly.

Check this site for more info:

I know of no other company but modolo that offers a shimano brake/shift lever. The modolo model has not received good reviews. Apparently it's pretty awkward to operate.
Thanks for advance...igorn
