tire repair?koala

I just blew a 3\8 inch hole in my conti 3000 gp. Would you patch it? I cant remember a hole that big in recent past. The tire has less than 200 miles on it. Thanks, sorry for the mundane question...

Try a tire vulcanizer and have them use their automotive patch. Even then, you might get a hop where the patch is. I fixed a mtb tire by cutting a patch from a sidewall of a worn out one and glued it inside using Krazyglue and then clamped it in a vice overnight. My tear was on the sidewall, and it worked well. A road tire is so much narrower that you may be SOL for a repair.
is it worth saving $30 to find out if it will hold or blow out?Jekyll

I think not. I would just trash the tire (or use it on a trainer) and have piece of mind. I'd hate to ride wondering if the patch, etc will hold.
Where can I get them for $30?n.m.koala

It happened to me 2 weeks ago, I met a big rock and got a huge flat as well as a hole in the tire. I repaired it with a patch coming from a patch kit, glued it with super glue, and rode it like that already 200 miles. I was pissing me to have a dead tire after 800 miles.

Otherwise, labicicletta has GP3000 for 29$. I read messages telling that they are nice. I'm going to order some tires from them next week.

Thanks guys. I think I will get my friends together, buy 10 and not have to worry on the next decent. Good idea to patch it and put it on the trainer wheels, if it blows out in my attic on the trainer who cares.
