helmet change after a crash(4 posts)

helmet change after a crashtrendl
Jun 12, 2002 3:56 AM
I crashed on Sunday hitting the pavement with my helmet. I was putting my jacket on (stupid) so I was not going too fast. I haven't found any visible damege on the helmet. Should I get a new one or is the not so much crashed helmet pretty safe?
If it hit the ground, change it.jw25

Even a slow speed crash can damage the foam. Do you really want to find out if it's okay in the real world? Most companies have decent crash replacement policies, too, so the $$ involved needn't be too painful.

Don't mess with your head. The helmet did its' job: it absorbed the impact of the hit instead of your cranium. Damage isn't always readily apparent. Throw it away. Treat yourself to a new helmet.

Some companies replace crashed helmets for free or a small charge. I got a new Limar for $20 a few years ago after a crash.
