Did Look Frames get heavier?flying

I was looking at Excels catalog & see the older 281 with the HSC2 fork is listed as 3.1 lbs in a 54cm.

The newer ( I assume ) 386 are 3.8 lbs.
The 381i's are 4.07lbs.

That is a pretty big difference between the 281 & the 381i.
Is there a good site to read up about the Look's models & maybe history?

They did not get that much heavier. According to LOOK, the 381i is 100 grams heavier than the 281. The 381i weights 1850gr(4.07lb) and the 281 weights 1750gr(3.85lb). The LOOK 381(not 381i) is last years 281 but you cannot buy it in the US. LOOK's weights always include frame and fork.

Thanks Dave,
I have noticed your expertise on look frames ;-)
Where is the best place to get these price wise?
I see saddlesore has the KG241's for a good price.
Where can I look to find the main differences in the frames like,
241 , 281, 261, 381 etc. ?

Thanks again for any info.

Saddlesore is a great place for frames. I bought my 241 from them. Also try has specs. all the current models. If you're going to compare the older models, the 261/361 is the same. The 281/381(not 381i) is the same. The 241 is not produced any more. It's an Asain made frame. I have one and it's been one of the best bikes I've ever owned. It weights just over 4lbs for frame and fork.
Basically, the 281/381/381i use variable shaped tubes with LOOK highest grade of carbon. The 381i has an integrated headset and a smooth lug/tube connection. The frames comes with an all carbon fork.
The 261/361 uses round tubes with a slightly lower grade of carbon but has the same seatstays/chainstays as the 281/381. The fork has an alloy steerer tube.
All the above are/were made in France.
The 241 was LOOK's 3 from the top model. It's made in Asia with all round tubes and carbon fork with an alloy steerer. Quality is as good as my 281.
IMHO, you cannot go wrong with any of the above.
