STI Maintenance???WiseGuy

I have Dura Ace and Ultegra STI shifters on my bikes and have not done any maintenance on them since I bought them 2 years ago. I do not normally ride in the rainy conditions. What should I be doing (if anything) to ensure ongoing smooth operation and minimize wear?

Please advise!!

The main thing you can do is flush things out with solvent (like WD-40) and then squirt in something like TriFlow. This will clean out the gunk and free things up. Other than that, you can try to put a little grease in there with a toothpick or a needle injector. That's about it.

Outside of the advice offered by Kerry, you are left with praying to the gods of cycling for those Shimano STI shifters to have a long lasting life. Pray especially hard for the Ultgra shifters since getting 7,000 miles out of them is a major miracle. If yours last that long, call the Vatican.
