Is it normal for campy to be very loud when coasting? I am using Daytona with nine speed
not the cassette...C-40

It's the freehub pawls that make the noise. Most campy hubs have a set screw that can be removed and injected with grease. You must first remove the cassette, then look for the set screw along the splined freehub body.

You can get maintenance info at:

The Campy freehub pawl design is just louder (as compared to Shimano). Consider it an announcement to your riding buddies that you use Campy. You can quiet it down a bit by using some grease on the pawls, as previously suggested. I have both Veloce and Chorus hubs and I can tell you the Veloce hub is REALLY loud due to some steels parts in the body. You'll get used to it
