|Ksyrium: noise from rear wheel when off saddle||Matteo|
May 25, 2002 5:21 AM
|Hi to everyone.
I bought a pair of Ksyrium on october 2001 and I'm very happy about them.
Now I have a little problem: when I'm off saddle there's a noise from the rear wheel. My bike shop tries to fix it putting a dense oil on the hub, but when the oil goes away the noise comes back...
Thanks a lot!

|pull the hub apart and re-grease all surfaces that actually coome into contact with one another. don't worry about the bearing, they're sealed. also, drop a small amount of lube into the spoke/nipple interface. mine were creaking and these two fixes solved the problems! your shop SHOULD know how to do it!|

|I have a used set of ksyriums, and have the tools. Once you screw off the cap, will the axle just come out? anything to be cautious about? Do the bearings come out with the axle? Any difference between front/rear? |

I can reply only today.
My bike shop did exactly what you wrote and the noise has gone completely.

|When he stands, he gets a pop noise, I think the freehub may be skipping. What does your noise sound like?|

|Put a drop of oil on each spoke nipple where they attach to the rim. Let sit for a few minutes and wipe off the excess. It may take a few miles for the oil to work into the nipples, but this seems to fix the Mavic wheel "pop and ping."|| |
