Does any body know if there is a computer out there that

I thought the Polar S710, with an additional upgrade kit, has the ability to measure power output. Polar's website says it will do power measurements with an optional kit...

It's made by a German company. Not very popular in the U.S. and I have never seen one in a LBS. They are available from Bike Nashbar.

It is quite pricy and it has a few annoying quirks. However, it is loaded with features, including wattage. I got it mainly because it has an altimeter and records total vertical climb and your ride profile, which can be downloaded and viewed on your computer when you get home.
could you tell me a bit about the computer stuff?collinsc

Looks interesting, but I cant seem to find too much detailed info. Can you do things like plot elevation changes over ride length relative to the starting point?

Great little gadget. You can down load, compare and contrast. IMHO this is better than a Polar S710.

HAC4 is their best unit.

It shows ride profile, HR, Pwr, Distance, Speed, basically everything and then you can overlay the same ride from last week and see the differences.

Very clever.

I have one but when I download everything is metric....how do I get it to display the same that it displays while riding? Meters and KM don't compute as readily in my head.

Go to their website (see previous post by LeGrimper) and download the newest version of the software. Under Settings/Options you can change from metric to English units.

I have the 414, not the downloadable version. It is pretty cool. The watts is neat, but I got it mainly to display the percent grade of the hill while you are climbing and the total elevation gained.

Not many LBS have them yet, but just about any can order them.

I've got both the Alti 414M and the HAC4. I love both units. Unfortunately, the HAC4 is only in metric, but that's not too big of a deal since the software converts upon download. Guess that's what I get for ordering it from France.... The 414M has most of the features of the HAC4 save heart rate, compare function, countdown and I think ride markers. Just got both recently and haven't used all the features. Excellent units.

Performance recently had the Alti 414M for $159, which is a great price in the US. Just watch out, the Alti comes in a non "M" model and it's not downloadable to a computer. This was the selling point for me.

Good luck.
